How Fujifilm Prescale® works

PSI ValuesHow do you measure pressure between contacting rollers?

Conventional methods such as carbon paper do not reveal precise pressure magnitude and distribution. Fujifilm Prescale nip impression film is a quick convenient and affordable tool that reveals actual contact pressure across the nip’s surface.

Fujifilm developed Fujifilm Prescale (formerly Fuji Prescale) to measure and reveal pressure between any two contacting surfaces. This thin flexible film conforms to both straight surfaces of presses and the curved surfaces of rollers, and is very easy to use. No additional training or instrumentation is needed. Simply place Fuji Prescale in the nip between your contacting rollers and apply force. Instantaneously, a high resolution pressure map (profile) is produced. Different gradations of color on the film are calibrated to different amounts of pressure in PSI or kg/cm². Pressure magnitude and distribution is seen at a glance and can be visually inspected. For minute visual detail and graphical analysis, the film can be analyzed through a variety of imaging products and services.

Application specialists at Sensor Products Inc. have worked with pulp & paper, converting, printing and packaging companies that have used this cost-effective pressure film over the past 20 years. Our staff advises on pressure ranges for applications as well as complementary products and services such as slitting and encasing of the film that are needed in specific applications.

How Fujifilm® Prescale can work for you

Cross Sectional View of Fujifilm Prescale?Do you have a project you are working on?

Improperly loaded roller sets can lead to problems with crowning, premature blanket wear, paper skewing, wrinkles and inferior product. Fujifilm Prescale is therefore recommended by engineers for any or all of these procedures – Research & Design, testing, quality control, set up, production and maintenance.

If you want to ensure your rollers are contacting properly and your products are free of pressure variations that lead to defects, you’ll want more information on our film.

Have you ever needed to evaluate pressure or force between two touching or mating surfaces? Previously, your only alternatives were strain gauges and load cells, that are both time consuming and difficult to interface. Now with the advent of our disposable one-time use pressure film, Fujifilm Prescale, evaluating surface contact pressure distribution and magnitude is accurate, quick and highly economical.
